Program Name: Safaris in Tanzania with MICATZ

Organization: Maasai International Challenge Africa (MICATZ)

About MICATZ: MICA is a non-profit organization which is located in Arusha, Tanzania and managed by volunteers from all over the world. MICA  specializes in providing volunteer abroad programs in developing countries in Africa and Asia!  MICA organizes international programs for students, groups, individuals, and virtually anyone interested in going abroad and making a difference.

MICA offers a wide range of affordable and unique projects such as teaching English abroad, working at orphanages, healthcare and medical internships overseas, community development projects, women assistance programs, as well as conservation volunteer programs.

Highlights: Through our Tanzanian partner organization, volunteers can opt to embark on a five day camping adventure through Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Lake Manyara. Volunteers are transported in a land cruiser with four other volunteers, and everyone gets a window seat! Your accommodations are large, roomy tents with beds in them, and you will have access to a toilet, a shower, three meals per day, and clean drinking water. You and your fellow volunteers will be supervised and cared for by professional safari staff, which includes a cook, a maintenance and safety crew, and a knowledgeable guide.

The camping safari begins and ends in the city of Arusha. In addition to viewing breathtaking landscapes and variety of African wildlife, you will also experience a stop at a Maasai village, and take part in cultural activities. Another notable excursion is a trip to Olduvai Gorge in Ngorongoro, a vast ravine that is sometimes referred to as “the Cradle of Mankind.”
