Study Abroad in Barcelona

Program Name: Study Abroad in Barcelona, Spain

Organization: Barcelona International College

Highlights:  Barcelona, a bustling metropolis on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, is the perfect place to study abroad! Nestled between beaches and mountains, it boasts a rich cultural history and contains an eclectic mix of old and new. Residents speak both Spanish and Catalan, the regional language. Barcelona is a crossroads where many different cultures come together and mingle. It is no surprise that Barcelona is a popular destination for students who wish to study abroad (of course, the fantastic coastline and mild climate don't hurt either).

BIC emphasizes learning inside the classroom as well as outside of it. By this token, many courses will embark on various field trips throughout the term. This provides a unique interactive learning experience. All classes taken at BIC will earn you college credit through Jacksonville University of Jacksonville, Florida. This means that at the conclusion of the program, you will receive a U.S. Transcript. The faculty at Jacksonville University work hard to approve all coursework, and make sure that courses hold up to the school's rigorous standards.

You may choose from a variety of academic programs and coursework. BIC offers many courses in the liberal arts and humanities, as well as international business. There are also language courses offered for both Spanish and Catalan. Most classes are taught in English, so even if you have never taken Spanish you can still partake in the program and succeed. In addition, many of the course offerings provide unique cultural, cross-cultural, or global perspectives. Combined with total immersion, this is definitely not an experience that could be replicated at home!

Perhaps one of the more rewarding aspects of study abroad in Barcelona is the multitude of day and weekend trips students can choose to embark on. You can elect to sign up for whatever piques your interest, be it visiting a museum or a winery, viewing historic landmarks, or travelling to nearby coastal towns. Students also have the opportunity to visit major cities in other regions of Spain, such as Madrid, Granada, or Valencia. What a great way to experience all Spain has to offer!

If you are a good student and are interested in study abroad in a world-class, culturally-diverse city, then this program is for you! Barcelona will no doubt make an impression on you that will last a lifetime. Go ahead, have the time of your life...and earn college credit while doing it!
